Kirsten Kokkin

«For me the purpose with sculpture is all about capturing a movement»

Welcome to my studio at Oslo Open on Sunday the 23d of April 2023 from 12-17

Kirsten Kokkin belongs to the group of figurative artists that strives towards the best in art history. Her work reflects the European tradition of figurative sculptors, such as Michelangelo, Bernini, Rodin and Gustav Vigeland. Despite close ties to history, however, she has managed to create her own position with her detailed and strongly feminine style.

Kirsten Kokkin has created a number of monuments, both public and private commissions. Her works span from the tradition of romantic expressionism to naturalism. She has a long career as a portrait artist.

Kokkin’s artwork is placed all over the world, and after moving to USA in 1987, she has most of her Art works placed in the U.S and Norway. In USA she is most known for her monumental statue of the late Crown
Princess Martha of Norway, which is on permanent display at Massachusetts Avenue in Washington DC, USA.

This Monument is one of many prominent and historic female figures that Kokkin has executed, the latest one at the public part of the Royal Palace Garden in Oslo Norway, of HRH Queen Sonja of Norway.
